One of my favorite things about the HP fandom is the theories. Here's one of mine on Grindelwald.
The Mirror of Erised
You remember when Dumbledore said "Men have wasted away before it, entranced by what they have seen, or been driven mad, not knowing if what it shows is real or even possible." What if he somehow tricked Grindelwald into looking into it and he actually did waste away in front of it. How ironic would it be that a wizard as powerful as Dumbledore could have used a simple charm to get rid of someone as powerful as a darklord. Now before people start shouting Quirel, Dumbledore manipulated that mirror to hide the sorcerer's stone, he didn't know he was dealing with Voldermort at the time. So if he charmed that mirror in the first book then surely he could have done it before. The book never said Dumbledore killed Grindelwald, it said he defeated him,and Jo did say we would find out more about the Mirror of Erised in the final book.
That's my idea on Grindelwald, anyone interested in putting holes in it, I'm dying to read them.
