I don't know if it has hit the national news yet but Chevron Refinery in Pascagoula Mississippi had a major accident today. My husband  works there. We were lucky that today was his off day. No one was killed but their were several injuries. A flange broke under pressure which cause the hydrogen unit to go up in flames. One of my husband's friends said the flames were over a hundred feet in the air.  Another friend called and they could see the smoke and they live 20 miles away from the refinery. My husband works as an operator in the RDS unit and it's right next to the one that exploded. They called him into work about an hour ago, he's also on the fire team and the emergency response team. He called when he got there and he said it was still on fire, they plan to let it burn itself out and just keep the surrounding area hosed down. So he will be there all night  in this heat in full turnout gear. Someone was already sent to the hospital with heat exhaustion. I'm going to be a nervous wreck all night, worried to death. No cell phones are allowed inside his area and all the landlines are busy, I'm going to wear a hole in the floor pacing.
